Q1. What's bimetallic screw barrel?
A: Bimetallic is also called dual-metal, It's by spraying a higher quality alloy on the surface of base material. The hardness and abrasive-resistant performance will be better, and can achieve longer lifespan. While the price wont be that high as full-hardened screw barrel.
Q2. What kind of bimetallic alloy you are using for production?
A: According to different usage, the choose for alloy is different, some require for abrasion-resistant while some require for corrsion-resistant. For standard, we have Fe-based, Ni-based, WC alloy etc for choice.
Q3. How long guarantee for bimetallic grade screw barrel?
A: The lifespan also depends on the using frequency and plastic running. If for virgin plastic without recycling, according to different alloy, can use at least 2 year. Higher bimetallic grade can achieve 4-5 years. If for recycling plastic, may be less.
Q4. What's the appliance for this grade of screw barrel?
A: Usually, bimetallic grade is more suitable for processing with bad plastic, such as recycling one, too much filler, such as CoCa3 and Glass Fiber. It's more abrasive-resistant than standard nitrided grade.
Q5. What's the thickness of bimetallic alloy and Hardness?
A: Thickness of bimetallic alloy will be range from 2-2.5mm according to different size of screw barrel. Hardness can reach up to HRC72. But usually will recommend hardness below 68HRC. or it may be a little fragile for the base material.
