At the same time the vacuum generated causes the water to rise in the suction piping. Since the self-priming system operates continuously, these pumps are practically un affected even by the presence of large amounts of entrained air in the fluid being pumped. It is always advisable to install a foot valve or non-return valve on the suction opening. Those pumps should be installed in a covered area, protected against the weather. Technical Data at n=2850
