Coast protection Gabion is a basket made of hexagonal woven wire mesh type 50/80. commonly referred to as double twist wire mesh . gabion box is filled with rock at he projects site to form flexible, permeable, monolithic structures such as retaining walls , channel linings and weirs for erosion control projects. The steel wire used in the manufacture of is added protection for use in aggressive environments with acidic soils and water, in salt for fresh water or wherever the rist of corrosion is present .in order to reinforce the structure , all mesh panel edges are selvedged with a wire which have a greater diameter than the mesh wire . the gabion basket is divided into cells by means of diaphragms positioned at approximately 1 m centres.
