Kiwi Fruit
Kiwi fruit is native to China, its cultivation then spread to New Zealand and subsequently many other areas of the world. There are three main varieties of the Kiwi fruit, the most common being the fuzzy kiwi, Kiwi berries and golden kiwis are less common. Although kiwi fruit is available in multiple varieties, Botaniex's extracts are obtained from the most well-known subspecies of fuzzy kiwi. Kiwis contain large quantities of many nutrients including Vitamin C and dietary fiber, making it a health addition to most diets even without its demonstrated health benefits.

Mechanisms
Much of Kiwi fruit's health benefits are the direct result of its high nutrient content and antioxidant properties. Digestive benefits are the result of a protease known as actinidin that helps with protein digestion, the dietary fiber helps in bulking up and softening stools for easier passage. Studies have also identified that kiwi fruit is better able to transport a variety of antioxidants to target tissues, showing a significant increase in their bioavailability in comparison to having the compounds administered simply through water. The antioxidants contribute directly to the anti-mutagenic properties of kiwi.
