499acl-01 sensor is used to continuously detect the content of residual chlorine (hypochlorite and hypochlorite ion) in water solution. Its main application is to measure the content of residual chlorine in drinking water, and it can also be used to monitor the dechlorination process. The sensor can measure the residual chlorine in the sample with pH up to 9.5 without  pretreatment. In some special cases, it can even analyze samples with pH up to 10.0. However, for the analysis and measurement of high pH samples, it is better to consult our factory. The linear range of 499acl-01 sensor to detect residual chlorine is 0-10ppm. 499acl-01 type sensor is a diaphragm covered current sensor, which is composed of (Platinum) cathode, (silver) anode and electrolyte. The cathode is covered with a porous diaphragm that allows gas penetration.
Without pretreatment, the current residual chlorine sensor only detects hypochlorite (HOCl), but not hypochlorite (ocl-1) ions. The 499acl-01 sensor can measure the residual chlorine in the sample with pH as high as 9.5 without pretreatment. To analyze the solution for pH 9.5-10.0, please consult our factory. The residual chlorine analyzer can automatically correct the pH value of the original sampling signal of the sensor.
Since the diffusion rate of residual chlorine through the diaphragm is related to the temperature of the measured solution, the response of the sensor must correct the change caused by the temperature on the permeability of the diaphragm. PT100 RTD temperature probe is built in the residual chlorine sensor, so the analyzer can automatically correct the temperature. (a thermistor resistor is set with delta matching sensor for automatic temperature compensation).
Because the stable and low concentration standard residual chlorine solution is difficult to commercialize, the 499acl-01 sensor is usually calibrated according to the test results of manual sampling and laboratory analytical instruments; it can also be calibrated according to the test results of portable analytical instruments provided by other manufacturers.
The maintenance of 499acl-01 sensor is also very convenient and fast. It is not necessary to use special tools or other fixed equipment to replace the diaphragm. Just drop a few drops of electrolyte in the diaphragm assembly and put it on the cathode, and screw the retainer in place. When filling the electrolyte, turn the position of the sensor upside down and the position of the diaphragm up, unscrew the liquid stopper located at the side of the sensor, then squeeze the plastic bottle containing the electrolyte, and slowly drop the electrolyte from the filling port until the liquid level is lower than the filling port (Note: 1. There shall be no air bubble in the middle of the dielectric when charging the dielectric; 2. The liquid level of the dielectric shall not be higher than the filling port) , and then reset and tighten the liquid stopper, and then return the sensor to normal position, i.e. the diaphragm is facing down, hold the upper part of it with the right hand finger, and force it to the outside for several times, so that the charged dielectric liquid is completely connected with the residual chlorine diaphragm assembly, and remove the possible bubbles in the middle.
Although the pressure change has little effect on the response of the sensor, a flexible air bag is set in the sensor, which can automatically adjust the pressure change in the cavity, maintain the pressure balance on both sides of the diaphragm, and prevent the diaphragm from deformation.
499acl-01 sensor can be installed in a variety of ways. For most applications, it is generally recommended to use low flow flow cell installation.
499acl-01 sensor can also be equipped with VP waterproof cable connector and a special cable, i.e. split structure. The VP male connector connected with the sensor can be quickly installed and removed with the cable equipped with the VP female interface. Once the wiring between the cable and the analyzer is completed, it is unnecessary to change the cable or rewire the cable when replacing the sensor later, and the cable will not twist when installing the sensor.
