Laser Thread Vein Removal (Cheek & Nose Vessels)

 

Thread veins (Telangiectasia) on the nose and cheeks can be quickly and easily removed by our Cherylas diode 940nm laser. The treatment typically takes 20-30 mins and most facial thread veins can be removed in just 2-3 treatment sessions.

 

Our Diode Cherylas 940nm Laser is effectively used in treat vessels on the cheeks and nose. This treatment is particularly effective against most facial thread veins up to 2mm in size. Laser Thread Vein removal is the most effective treatment currently available for removing Facial Telangiectasia (thread veins) on the face. Other treatments, such as Veinwave or other microwave based technologies can often require multiple sessions to treat the same area, and the treatment is not always as successful as laser thread vein removal.


What does Diode Laser treatment involve?

  • the practitioner will first assess the patients's skin before explaining what the laser treatment will involve. asked some general questions about the patient's skin and then the expected results, number of sessions required, potential side-effects.

  • Both the practitioner and patient should wear protective safety goggles and the practitioner will begin treatment. Whilst many patients don't require any topical anaesthetic to numb the area prior to treatment, some may find the treatment uncomfortable. If this is the case then a topical anaesthetic cream called Emla can be provided, which will be applied to the area 30 minutes before next treatment session to numb the area. The laser works by selectively heating up the superficial vessels, causing the thread vein wall to collapse and restrict the blood flow to the area. This restriction of blood flow through the thread vein is what effectively makes the vessel invisible. Once treated the patient will notice that the treated veins disappear as soon as the laser beam is traced over them. It is quite common for some of the thread veins to re-fill again after the first treatment, which is why we recommend 2-3 sessions in total to successfully treat the area.


  • How long do treatments take?

    Treatments can take 5 to 30 minutes or more depending on the treatment area. If a topical anaesthetic is necessary then you will need to come in 30 minutes before your appointment to have the cream applied.

     

    How many treatments are needed?

    Most patients experience considerable improvement after 1 to 3 treatments depending upon the skin condition and level of treatment. Typically only 2 or 3 sessions are required in most cases.

     

    What should expect after treatment?

    Soon after treatment the skin may appear slightly flushed and swollen. These effects usually subside after a few hours but can in rare cases last a few days.

     

    Is the Diode Laser treatment painful?

    During treatment the patient may experience a slight tingling sensation. Treatment with the diode laser can be uncomfortable for some, but most patients do not require any anaesthetic cream to numb the area prior to treatment. The topical anaesthetic cream (Emla) is available and will be applied by 30 minutes.This will then be removed immediately before treatment and should help to make the treatment more comfortable.
