What must cribs have?

1) Arrow heads should engage in undercuts on MB and DB aspects of molars but does NOT contact adjacent teeth
2) Clasp should fit model closely where embrasures are crossed to avoid damage by opposing teeth

What are the advantages of using  clasps?

- good retention
- strong resilient clasp
- simple to construct
- can be used on partially erupted teeth
- patient can apply pressure to remove the appliance
- Tubes can be soldered to the bridge of the clasp for a face bow for extra-oral traction

On what other teeth can clasps be used?

- premolars for additional retention
- if molars not available, use double clasp on adjacent premolars
- on canines if premolars are not available
- Use on deciduous molars
