Antimony Metal
MATERIAL OVERVIEW
Characteristics: Antimony is a silvery, lustrous gray metal. Antimony is stable in air at room temperature, but reacts with oxygen if heated, to form antimony trioxide (Sb2O3). Antimony is resistant to attack by acids. Antimony is a poor conductor of heat and electricity and many of its compounds are toxic.
Application: Antimony could be used in different fields, according to its purity. Primarily used in flame retardant applications due to its poor heat conductivity. Antimony metal is used as an alloy hardener as well as in metallurgical applications.
