The thrust ball bearing  can only carry axial load.

It can be applied only to bear a part of the axial load and low speed,such as the crane hook, vertical pumps, vertical centrifuge, jack, low speed reducer, etc.

Thrust ball bearing consists of a steel ball (cage), a shaft washer (and shaft tight fit) and a seat (with axial clearance but with tight fit) bearing, steel ball rotation between axial ring and seat. Can only carry axial load in one direction, can't bear radial load. Due to the axial load is evenly distributed on each ball, so the load capacity is larger; But at work, temperature rise is bigger, allow limit rotational speed is low.  

Thrust ball bearing can limit shaft or shell radial move, but can limit shaft and the shell axial moving in one direction, as a result, this kind of bearing and deep groove ball bearings usually used in combination.

Thrust ball bearing and arrange ushering cushion structure, due to the installation of seat cushion like spherical shape, so has the bearing performance, can reduce the influence of the installation error.
