Brief introduction of Malt liquid extract wedge wire screen candle filter element

 

Wedge wire screen Candle filter is simple filter without moving parts. All of candles are mounted on a perforated plate. Both candles and plate are housed within vertical cylindrical vessel with a conical base beneath the candles. Un-filtrated beer and filter aid is filled from the bottom to prevent beer fobbing and minimize oxygen pick up. During filtration filter aid will formed cake on the outside of the candles and then wash it out with water or compressed air

Filtration cycle for Wedge wire screen candle filter


1. CIP (cleaning in place) and Sterile with hot water (about 85 degree C)
2. Filling filter with water to cool it down
3. First pre-coat to create a primary filter bed
4. Second pre-coat to create a secondary filter bed
5. Circulation to ensure the filter bed is packed on candle filter surface
6. Push out line and filter with de-aerated water to cool it down to filtration temperature and remove oxygen form the filter
7. Push out line and filter with un-filtrated beer
8. Filtration
9. Push out filter with de-aerated water
10. Filter aid sludge discharge
11. CIP (cleaning in place) and Sterile with hot water (about 85 degree C)
