    Why should I use an Electronic Ballast over a Magnetic Ballast?

    First they are more efficeient by producing less heat as well as being completely silent and contain protective circuitry that is built in making them very save to use. More importantly is how they work with varying supply voltages. A 230/240V from the wall socket can vary substantially. It can be higher but often lower than the specified voltage. Typically this is caused by a long supply cord, industry in the neighborhood, or high demand on electricity, etc. A magnetic ballast will have a reduced output when the input voltage is lower than specified. An electronic ballat always adjusts itself to an optimal output, regardless of the voltage that is supplied (within some limit of course). An electronic ballast will adjust the output to the lamp during its lifetime. It has a soft start which puts less stress on a lamp when starting it up. Many electronic ballasts are adjustable, so you can adjust your output based on the climate circumstances, such as hot summer, or the age of your crop. Digital ballasts use less electricity, generate less heat, and produce more lumens than the older style core and coil ballasts.
