The History of Pelton Water Turbine:
Pelton water turbine is invented by Mr Lester A. Pelton, He is an American inventor of pelton water turbne, he was born in was born in a log-cabin in rural Vermilion Twp., Erie County, Ohio on September 5, 1829. His grandfather, workes as a Captain in a ship, he lost most of his assets during the War-of-1812 era, shortly later took his family to Ohio. Lester's father was Allen Pelton,and his mother was Fanny Cuddeback, from another local early pioneer family. As a youngster, Lester worked on his own farm and probably attended the nearby "Cuddeback" grade-school.
Pelton's ideas for improving the turbine water wheel came from his studies of mining equipment and operations in California's gold rush country. Pelton Water Turbine is widely used in water power plants with the high head from 60m to 600m.Design water flow from 0.1m3/Sto 3m3/S. they are included in runner, turbine case, nozzles, valve and intake penstock.
They are made in horizontal and vertical arrangement and only with the direct connection to the generator.
The runner is directly to the generator shaft, or in a horizontal arrangement can have its own shaft support.
Runner and other by attrition strained parts are made from stainless steel using CNC technology.
Pelton turbines can be characterized by high efficiency and wide regulation range.
Turbines are modern compact design, so there are small requirements of built up area.
In most cases, the units are supplied as a monoblock with a generator on same frame.
According to the parameters of penstock, turbine is fitted with a cap or round closing.
