BTA80 Electrical Edge Cutter
Web cutting systems ELCUT BTA 80 Edge cutter with suction device
The edge cutter ELCUT BTA 80 is used in pairs on the outfeed of the tenter for cut- ting the glued edges of the web.
The reliable shear cutting technology with powered top blade ensures a precise cut- ting result. The contact pressure between the top blade and the bottom blade can be adjusted using a spring and transfers the rotary movement to the bottom blade.
A very simple and at the same time effective wick lubrication system with very thin oil minimizes the friction between the blades and as a result maximizes the service life. Service lives from 8 to 12 weeks in 3-shift operation with a web made of 100% cotton have been experienced by our customers.
Using these devices the already depinned web is cut above the tenter chain. The waste can be minimized by optimized positioning of the cutting tools. On the standard device, horizontal adjustment is done via a small electric motor that is operated via a manually operated button. On the fully automated solution, an infra- red sensor scans the edge and guides the blade so it is always the required distance from the edge of the web. As a result on changing the operating width or the quality it is not necessary to re- configure the cutter.
As an option the cutting speed can be continuously adjusted to suit changing production speeds using a frequency converter.
As standard the cutting speedis fixed. The extraction of the waste strips is undertaken using a silenced side channel compressor with venturi nozzle.
An adjustable mechanical selvedge opening device ensures that the curled edges are opened out and therefore minimizes the material trimmed at the edge.
If materials are to be processed that do not require trimming of the edges, the cutting tool is moved out of the area of the pin chain electrically.
To place the web in the cutting plane, a roller to lift the web out of the pin chain as well as an infeed and outfeed roller for the cutting tool are necessary. These rollers must be designed as free-running rollers. On customer request additional supporting de-pinning wheels can be used.
Function
The spring-mounted top blade is powered via a geared motor. The top blade presses against the bottom blade and draws it along as the blades cut. The cutting force can be continuously adjusted via a spring up to max. 250 N. The cutting force can be adjusted to the related situation for optimum blade service life.
For adaptation to varying web qualities, he cutting tool ELCUT BTA 80 can be adjusted and positioned with the aid of a DC drive. The manual lateral adjustment is made using a pushbutton on the tenter's outfeed. As an option automatic follow-up can be provided via an infrared sensor and a control card that operates the DC motor.
