Why crude oil refinery occurs, let's check out the crude. Crude oils are composed of a great variety of hydrocarbons (Hydrocarbons). Hydrocarbons (HC) with one to four carbon atoms (methane –butane) are gaseous at room temperature, hydro-carbons with more carbon atoms are liquid at room temperature(pentane,hexane,etc.). So the oil refiner occurs.
Hydro-carbons with more than seventeen carbon atoms per molecule are solid at room temperature as pure compounds, but these are usually dissolved in the liquid portion of the crude oil.Three types of molecular structures are possible for hydrocarbons, i.e., straight-chain,branched-chain, and ring structures. Three possible structures of hexane are given as an example. The higher and more complex hydrocarbon molecules consist of various combinations of these structures. Oil refining companies are increasing.
