Tin Free Steel(TFS) is also known as chromed steel, as it is obtained by coating the metalbase (low-carbon steel) with an ultra-thin layer of metallic chrome and thenwith a chromium oxide layer. As a common practice Tin Free Steel is produced inbulk quantities over and above the actual requirements. Our prime interest liesin the excess production and non-prime quality TFS available in all shapes,forms and sizes. Tin Free Steel (TFS) is produced by applying electrolyticchromic acid treatment over steel sheets. This steel product was developed tomeet economic requirements, and xcels tinplate in paintability, paint adhesion,and economy. It is widely used for aking beverage cans and 18-liter cans. It isalso used for making photographic film cases and as a protective material foroptical fiber cables.
