Mega flux infrared LED strip for the surveillance and multitouch markets. Make larger multitouch screens than ever before possible with economical LED strips! Tight spectral power distribution, centered on 660 nm. Complete information on our infrared LED line for multitouch and surveillance, including independent test lab results, is available in our Multitouch Screen IR LED Buying Guide.

Easy to install: Has high-adhesion stickyback. Just peel off the wax paper and stick it to any clean, dry substrate.
NOTE: InfraRed light is not visible. Do not buy this product for accent lighting or general illumination. It is for special purposes only. Excessive exposure to infrared light may be hazardousv
The Flexible Infrared LED Strip Light is available by the foot to Elemental customers, bringing you the most sophisticated technology at an affordable price. Our Infrared LED Strip Light emits IR light at 660 Nanometers, the IR-A (or Near Infrared band of the optical spectrum), a frequency that is invisible to the human eye. (These IR strip lights, which emit IR radiation, are not to be confused with thermographic devices, which create images based on detected IR radiation emitted by objects.) Infrared LED light has many commercial applications. The most common use for IR light is night vision, a feature that is often seen on handheld video cameras and some still cameras. Infrared is standard, too, in short-range wireless communication: remote controls for electronic devices and some appliances use IR light to send their signals, as it does not penetrate walls and so does not interfere with other nearby devices.
Infrared radiation can also be used as a deliberate heating source, whether to heat the occupants of infrared saunas, to remove ice from the wings of aircraft (de-icing), or for natural health care & physiotherapy, using radiation from the Far Infrared band. Infrared heating is also replacing contact heating and convection ovens in industrial manufacturing processes, such as the curing of coatings, annealing, plastic welding, print drying, and the forming of plastics.
This low-voltage 12V DC IR Strip is easy to install and produces little heat, which means you don't have to worry about shock or fire danger. It has a lifespan of over 50,000 hours and, though it lives on a carbon diet, its low wattage translates to lower emissions and a $3 per-watt operating cost if left on for an entire year. Use this strip three or four hours per day, and it will last over 40 years! This Like all Elemental products, this strip bears a RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) certificate that strictly ensures that no toxic materials were used in its manufacture.
Infrared (IR) radiation is electromagnetic radiation whose wavelength is longer than that of visible light, but shorter than that of terahertz radiation and microwaves. The name means "below red" (from the Latin infra, "below"), red being the color of visible light with the longest wavelength. Infrared radiation has wavelengths between about 940 nm and 1 mm, spanning three orders of magnitude.

Infrared imaging is used extensively for both military and civilian purposes. Military applications include target acquisition, surveillance, night vision, homing and tracking. Non-military uses include thermal efficiency analysis, remote temperature sensing, short-ranged wireless communication, spectroscopy, and weather forecasting. At the atomic level, infrared energy elicits vibrational modes in a molecule through a change in the dipole moment, making it a useful frequency range for study of these energy states. Infrared spectroscopy examines absorption and transmission of photons in the infrared energy range, based on their frequency and intensity.
