The tie rods(limit rods or control rods) are added to protect the safety of pipeline, preventing the rubber body pulled out from the flanges. The tie rods are also called the limit rods, for it adds limit device for the joints, thus allowing free expansion of the pipeline within certain limit. Once it surpasses the largest expansion scale, the limit rods will work. Rubber expansion joints with tie rods are particularly suitable for pipeline with a certain slope and curve.
The tie rods are used when the rubber joints have to bear high pressure, the axial or radial displacement range is likely to exceed allowable values, or the customers have special requirements of rubber joints' displacement properties.
There are three kinds of tie rods:
Type A-The tie rods screw fixed on the flange(see picture a)
Type B- The tie rods screw welded on the flange(see picture b)
Type C- customer requires radial displacement rather than axial displacement(see picture C)
