There are many kinds of manganese ore, and usually, we talk about manganese oxide and manganese carbonate. The beneficiation of both manganese ores have a lot with the manganese nature. Gravity separation and intensity magnetic separator can be involved for manganese oxide ore while manganese carbonate can be upgraded by high gauss magnetic separator or floatation separators. In the manganese upgrading, the gravity separation is mainly used, then magnetic separation and last is the floatation separation. Forui here introduce gravity separation for manganese ore.

Manganese gravity separation upgrades manganese ore by gravity flow sheet and gravity separator with the commonest machine of jig machine. Gravity separation separates on basic of desity difference between useful mineral and intergrowth gangue. Materials of different densities have different spped up or down in the vertical internative water-flows. Material with bigger density will go down faster while material with smaller density will go down slower, then the heavy material will deposit to the bottom while the light ones will flow along with the water flows to realize the separation of the minerals.


There are three requirements about the jigger gravity separation to work. 1. big density difference between useful mineral and its gangue. The bigger the density difference is, the easier the separation will be. 2. liberation of useful mineral from its gangue. The higher teh single separation degree is, the btter the beneficiation efficiency will be. 3. liberation granules. Gravity separation has some requirement about the feeding granules. Usually, the feeding size shall be above 50meshes.


Gravity separation can have a great beneficiation efficiency with its simple flow sheet, small plant investment, low operation cost and friendly to environment. Comparing with traditional intensity magnetic separation, it can be get higher efficiency and higher recovery rate. Comparing with floatation separation, it is low operation cost, high concentrating efficiency and no chemicals involved. Generally, gravity separation can be considered firstly if any possible.
