Introduction of the choke valve

The Adjustable Choke (Production valve) is a large needle valve attached to the production wing of the Christmas tree; 

receiving the re-directed vertical flow stream from the Cross; and used to control the flow of fluids. Its opening is 

calibrated; and is adjustable in 1/64 inch increments (called beans). 

Function of the choke valve

The function of the adjustable choke is to hold the correct back pressure on a well when controlling a kick so as not to

allow any more formation fluid into the hole and/or prevent breaking the formationdown while controlling the well. 

Feature of adjustable choke valve for wellhead 

• 1. Manufactured and tested in accordance with API 6A.

• 2. Carbide alloy is embedded into stem needle of valve, seat.

• 3. Flow adjustment is indicated on a measuring scale.

• 4. composite rubber-plastic stem lip packing reduces operating torque.

• 5. Max orifice:1"-3".
