Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) filter
Fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) have attracted a wide range of applications in both the communications
and sensor industries. FBGs can perform many primary functions, such as spectral reflection and filtering,
in a highly efficient manner and with low loss.The gratings are permanent on the fiber after undergoing
a proper annealing process and the reflective spectrum is very stable overtime. These characteristics
are very useful in many fiber-optic communication applications. FBGs are also commonly employed as
wavelength lockers in pump lasers, add/drop multiplexing, gain flattening of erbium-doped fiber amplifiers,
and chromatic dispersion compensation.
