Type 304Stainless Steel sheet has a very low carbon content ( .08 ) With 304L gradematerial having an even lower amount of carbon content ( .03 ) Less carbon =more corrosion resistance.
The thickness of the sheet metal is called its gauge. The gauge of sheetmetal ranges from 30 gauge to about 7 gauge. The higher the gauge, the thinnerthe metal. Thicknesses can vary significantly, although extremely thinthicknesses are considered foil or leaf, and pieces thicker than 6 mm (0.25 in)are considered plate.
Standard widths are 36", 48", 60" and 72". Standard lengths are 96” , 120”and 144” with the ability to order longer cut lengths to size at the time thecoil is being processed.
