Why purify transformer oil? Maybe the first question should be, "why isitimportant to have purified oil in a transformer?" Dissolved gassesintransformer oil can cause arcing, corona discharges, andoverheating--reducingthe electrical efficiency and lifetime of the transformer.Likewise, watercontamination at levels as low as 30 ppm (parts per million) canadverselyaffect the insulating strength of the oil. The Zhongneng Oilregeneration system (Series ZYD) has been speciallydesigned for on site use tocompletely regenerate insulating oils in energizedor de-energized transformers.The ZYD-I system provides regular oilpurification such as degassing, drying andparticulate removal but also canremove acidity, sludge, other soluble oil decayproducts and discoloration.
