CEE7 Power Cords standards explained:The International Electrotechnical Commission for Electrical Equipment (IECEE) is commonly known as IEC and many of their standards are commonly referred to as CEE. The IECEE created many different versions of the CEE7 power cord connectivity standard including the CEE7/5 adopted by France, Belgium, Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia and also the CEE7/4 Schuko German standard adopted by most of the rest of Europe. The primary difference between the two is how grounding is handled. The CEE7/5 uses a female round prong whereas the CEE7/4 uses ground straps on the top and bottom areas of the connectors. The CEE7/7 is a hybrid or combination of both the CEE7/5 and CEE7/4 and offers functionality in almost all European countries.
