UKREXPORT has direct access to producers of Round Steel Billets in Ukraine in Ukraine as well as central continental and near/middle/far-eastern regions. Steel Billet is not a finished steel product, nor a raw steel in pure form - but it's a freshly made steel in form of a metal bar, round bar (or else square or rectangular). Steel Billets are considered fresh and raw, they must undergo a series of manufacturing processes to be transformed into more functional shapes and sizes to be used for various ultimate purposes. It is intermediate or semi-finished Steel and as such it is only being purchased and used by steel factories for further treatment in course of manufacturing finished products from it, such as seamless pipes, boiler pipes, axles, rolls, pinions, bolts, etc. Thus official sale and export policy for Steel Billets admits only steel factories as customers and prohibits selling to non-specialized intermediaries or for trading/stocking purposes.
Round Steel Billets are distinguished of 2 types, by making technology:
- Continuously-Cast Round Billets, in fixed diameters 150mm, 170mm, 200-230mm, 250mm, 300mm, 400mm; length within 4-12m
- Hot-Rolled Round Billets, in more variable diameters from 75mm and up to 275mm; length also varies within 3-12m
These Billets are seldom delivered in 20ft/40ft containers, but foremost as bulk cargos in bundles per 5MT suitable mostly for bulk carriers (cargo vessels). That's why minimal order quantity is 5000MT.
Once again, the above Round Steel Billets are not finished Round Hot-Rolled Steel Bars as per GOST 2590-88, for example, ranging from 5mm to 270mm in diameter and from 2m to 24m in length that customers can specify. The latter is finished product and can be ordered starting from 1000MT. But the former is literally raw material and, as such, sold in commercial bulk quantities starting from 5000MT.
Please note: Any original production of Round Steel Billets at that or other factory is not open public process. Inquiry for particular production/offer/price has to show authentic information: 1) who (what company) is buyer/importer/consignee; 2) where (what bank) his payment is to come from: 3) how (in copies of docs) he bought/imported/consumed Steel Billets last time, to prove 1) and 2).
