317L and 317 Stainless Steel Sheet are a low carbon or "L" grade which provides resistance to sensitization during welding and other thermal processes.The alloys 317L and 317 Stainless Steel Sheet are intended for severe service conditions such as flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems.In processes where condensation of sulfur-bearing gases occurs, the alloy 317L and 317 Stainless Steel Sheet are much more resistant to attack at the point of condensation than conventional Alloy 316.
