High Performance Thrust Ball Bearings
These thrust ball bearings have two washers, with grooved raceways. The curvature of the raceways is slightly larger than that of the ball. Out of two washers, one is shaft washer & the other one is housing washer. The bore of the shaft washer isof the shaft dia & the bore of the housing washer is slightly larger than that of shaft washer, to facilitate free rotation. These types of thrust bearings are mainly used where axial load conditions are too large to be accepted by radial bearings. They can accept purely thrust load in single direction & they are not suitable for speed applications.The thrust ball bearings are separable so that mounting is simple as the washers and the ball and cage assembly can be mounted separately.

Thrust ball bearings consist of the washers with raceway and the assembly of ball and cage. The washer that contacts the shaft is called shaft washer, and the one attached to the housing is called housing washer. Thrust bearings in double directions have a central washer connected to the shaft.
