1. ASTM A299 steel relevant info: This specification covers manganese-silicon carbon steel plates for use in welded boilers and other pressure vessels. A299 steel Plates under this specification are produced in two grades. The specified minimum yield strength decreases for thicknesses over 1 in 25 mm. The maximum thickness of plates is limited only by the capacity of the composition to meet the specified mechanical property requirements; however, current practice normally limits the maximum thickness of plates furnished under this specification to 8 in 200 mm.
