Silicone rubber have comparatively lowmechanical properties, tensilestrength, elongation and tear strength, howeversilicone keep constanteven at high temperature but should not be used withhigh pressuresteam. Its resistance to oil and hydrocarbon products is fairlylimited. Silicone rubber is inert in nature thus making it the preferredchoiceof medical, pharmaceutical industries. Due to it bio-compatiblenature it isalso used in food processing industries.
Application:
Silicone rubber alsoresistant to ultra-violent light, ozone andweathering. Exhibits lowinflammability and low smoke toxicity. It hasexcellent electrical insulationproperties.
