The self-aligning ball bearing has two rows ofballs and a common concave sphered raceway in the outer ring. Thebearing is consequently self-aligning and insensitive to angularmisalignments of the shaft relative to the housing. It is particularlysuitable for applications where considerable shaft deflections ormisalignment are to be expected. Additionally, the self-aligning ballbearing has the lowest friction of all rolling bearings, which enablesit to run cooler even at high speeds.
