Heat activated tape laminating machine
The Heat Bond Laminator is designed to apply 3M Brand Heat Activated Tapes to constant profile extrusions for the industrial, consumer and automotive OEM markets. The tape is unwound and guided over a cooled lamination wheel onto the extrusion. The air cylinder loaded pressure wheel adapts for variations in profile thickness.
Hot air is blown onto the heat activated adhesive immediately before it is laminated
onto the product by a thermostatically controlled hot air torch. The product conveyor carries the extrusion into the laminating wheel. The WL-30 Machine can be adapted to run a wide variety of extrusion profiles. The WL-
30 has two tape roll holding spindles but can be setup with the WL-40 Tape Splicing machine for a continuous tape supply.
OPERATING SEQUENCE
• The Tape is threaded through the guide rollers.
• Extrusion guides are adjusted to guide the extrusion smoothly to the laminating wheel.
• The laminating wheel pressure is adjusted.
•
The thermostatically controlled head torch which provides the hot air can be adjusted in two directions and a rotation to position the torch nozzle as close as possible to the nip point between the tape and the extrusion.
