Product Description
The Ammonites are invertebrates constituting a family belonging to the phylum Mollusca, class Cephalopoda, subclass of the ammonoids. The ammonoids have been around for about 380 million years ago during the Devonian and became extinct with the dinosaurs at the Cretaceous-Tertiary crisis there is 65mA, which is why we no longer found only in the state of fossil.
The soft body of the Ammonites was protected by a shell, usually coiled tight whose shape resembles a ram's horn. The name Ammonite comes from the God Jupiter Ammon, whose performances were decorated with ram's horns. In fact most of the shells bear ribs more or less thick and more or less high. Ammonite shell is not the same for all the Ammonites. Most are spiral-wound but you can also find shells straight or smoothly, more or less flattened, with or without shore, with towers more or less overlapping. From the Permian crisis (-250 AD), there are almost as Ammonites whose shape is very similar to current Nautilus. Their shell on the surface of the suture lines "parsley". The suture lines correspond to the intersection of a wall and the outer shell. These sutures show that the Ammonites had walls complicated unlike those of Nautilus. Their shell has another difference from that of Nautilus, and is scalable. This characteristic is given by the size of the umbilicus. The navel is the central part of the winding. In the Ammonite seen several rounds in the umbilicus. In the Nautilus the umbilicus is reduced to a point.
