The Ultimate VictimLocation System, is a state ofthe art technical search and rescuedevice designed to quickly andaccurately pinpoint the location ofvictims of structural collapse andsimilar confined space rescuesituations. The system combines a highresolution color video camera,sensitive search microphone, speaker, andlight source into a fullyarticulating, remote controlled, telescopingprobe. On-screen systemstatus graphics insure that the operator canmonitor the system withoutdiverting either sight or attention from thesearch task.
Thecamera comprises a telescopic boom with aninfrared camera, able toturn through 360, fixed to the end andconnected to a portable controlbox with a screen. With the camera, itis possible to explore the ruinsand communicate with a victim via themicrophone incorporated in thecamera.
