Chromium is a steely-gray, lustrous, odorless, tasteless, malleable and hard metal that takes a high polish. It has a high melting point and high corrosion resistance.
Chromium is remarkable by its magnetic properties: it is the only elemental solid which shows antiferromagnetic ordering at room temperature (and below). Above 38°C, it transforms into a paramagnetic state.
