Neodymium magnets are the most powerful rare earth mangets up to now. Nowadays they have been used in many fields for defferent applications.The production technology of NdFeB magnets has developed fast to a high level. In many fields, they have replaced tranditional magnets such as ferrite magnet,alnico magnets and smco magnets. 

Sintered NdFeB magnet is the most powerful permanent magnet in the contemporary. The coercive force of Sintered NdFeB is very high and its Bhmax is about ten times of that of Ferrite magnet. It can support about 640 times of its weight. As its fairly good mechanical properties, it can be processed into many different shapes or with various holes. Some of its products with high-perfomance can work under the situation up to 200℃. However, it is easy to be rusted for its elements.Therefore we should make surface treatment in terms with different requirements, such as zinc-coated,Nickel-coated,Ag-coated,Au-coated,Epoxy-coated etc.

The corrosion resistance  of NdFeB is considered poor. Painting, coating, or plating is therefore highly recommended for NdFeB. Nickel, Zinc, or Tin plating provides good corrosion resistance for NdFeB magnets. A variety of organic coatings have also been successfully developed for NdFeB, exhibiting good corrosion resistance characteristics. Especially in harsh environments, it may be advisable to use a combination of coating techniques, or to encapsulate the material in a sealed housing.  

Rare Earth materials are mechanically weak, and magnetically very strong. They must therefore be handled very carefully to avoid damage and injury during personnel handling the magnets. Receiving and assembly personnel should be warned about the of handling magnetized Rare Earth magnets.
