Pedestal Bathtub

Pedestal Bathtubs come in oval shapes and unlike clawfoot bathtubs, they do not have any "feet" at all. The design of pedestal tubs rest on a simple oval base. Pedestal tubs are originally used for soaking but today, with hand-held showers, they can also be used for rinsing and taking a full bath.
 

Pedestal Baths are set up on a pedestal and therefore can be deeper than a traditional tub that is sitting on the floor. Similar to an in the ground pool, the bathtub extends past the flat surface of the pedestal so the bather enters by stepping down into it, rather than stepping over the side of the tub. Because of this, pedestal bathtubs are widely popular for those who wish to have the ultimate bath experience.
 

The bathtubs are positioned on a pedestal with about two steps going up to the pedestal. There is typically a seat or seats built into the tub to act as steps for getting in and for comfortable seating within the tub. Pedestal bathtubs are perfect for whirlpool jets, whereas traditional bathtubs can be too shallow once the jets start pumping the water.
